A to Z Challenge: “K”itties gone bad

Being an animal lover, I couldn’t help posting some older photos of some of the cats that we’ve had (and still have), doing amazing things. So, thank you for indulging me with this lighter post that is mostly photos. Hope you enjoy them as much as I had captioning them!

Ollie as a playful kitten
Oliver, aka Ollie, playing fetch when he was younger. He is now 12 and considered a senior citizen because he’s slowing down and becoming chattier. He used to also play “fish” with my husband, Joe. We had a fishing pole that would cast-off and Ollie would bring the fish to Joe. He is a Manx kitty so that’s why his tail is just a stub.
Tikey as a playful kitten
Tikey also liked to play fetch when he was a kitten. He is still playful, although he doesn’t like getting chased by our 70-pound dog so he keeps his playfulness contained. He is a Maine Coon rescue and is 11 years old.
nikki
This was Nikki, the first Manx cat we had (no tail), who moved with us from Denver to Indiana. She was a tortie rescue and lived to be 15. Shortly after the move, she came down with bladder cancer and surgery didn’t get it all so she passed away soon after. As you can see, she returned home from shopping at Honey Creek Mall with a bag of purchases. She had the personality of a dog, really, and refused to NOT have my husband love her.
Chuckie the cat helps Joe in the home office.
This was my very first cat, Chuckie. He was a rescue and first lived at my mom and dad’s house with me, then moved to the condo and finally to the Denver townhome, when Joe and I got married. He had a thyroid problem like his mom (me) but still lived to be 18. As you can see, he is helping Joe in the home office, typing up a bit of correspondence.

I'm Diane, a marketing executive in the non-profit sector living in Terre Haute, Indiana. My husband and I moved from Denver, Colorado, 15-plus years ago and this blog highlights our joys and challenges in adjusting to our new home and town. I also share things I love: photography, wildlife and domestic pets, writing, knitting, making jewelry, food, travel, my faith in God and music. I'm also writing a mystery novel so stay tuned!

Thanks for your comment and for visiting my blog. My parents raised English Springer Spaniels while I was growing up so I didn’t get my first cat until I was out of college. I’ve even had a pet bunny, so I do love most animals. Enjoy the rest of the challenge!

Being the “mom” of four felines currently, I love this post! You just can’t go wrong with kitties ever!! :-). Two of our furkids are rescues, and two were born to a rescue mama. Toby, our newest, is a Maine Coon rescue who is going to be a very big boy, and also loves to play fetch which totally confuses the others who watch him but don’t understand the game. 🙂 Your cats are beautiful, and each has it’s own story and has a special place in your heart, I know!
