A to Z Challenge: “Y”ummy recipes, Yummly™ website!

yummlySeveral years ago I discovered Yummly™. It’s a website for tasty, easy-to-make recipes. I created a user name and password and then I was off – tagging recipes to add to my Recipe Box online. Warning – the photos will have your stomach growling with hunger in no time!

Yummly aggregates recipes from multiple online sources. It has an intuitive search capability that allows me to look for the perfect recipe, based on ingredients I have on-hand or by holiday, cuisine, taste, diet, nutrition, allergy, cook time and even technique.

With the Yummly app for iPhone/iPad (also for Android), I can even create a shopping list to take with me to the store.

Once I began using Yummly, and I used their tags (called Yums), they began sending me recommended recipes, based on my preferences. The more I use the app, the better recipe matches I receive. And, it’s available at my fingertips so if I can’t find something to make for dinner, I check Yummly!

I also subscribe via email and receive new recipes periodically. If I find a recipe that isn’t on Yummly, I can add it to my Recipe Box with the Yum bookmarklet, from my bookmark toolbar. The only thing this app doesn’t do right now is my grocery shopping! I wonder if they are open to suggestions?

Some recipe sites have yummy looking recipes but when you try to recreate them, it can be hit or miss. Everything I’ve made from Yummly™ thus far has been mucho tast-i-o!

If I only had more time, I could add my own recipes, so I truly would have all of my favorite recipes in one place. The capability is there – I just have to find time to use it. Honestly, I don’t work for Yummly™ but it’s one of the best finds on the Internet if you like discovering new recipes. I just had to share (and it does begin with a “Y”)!

I'm Diane, a marketing executive in the non-profit sector living in Terre Haute, Indiana. My husband and I moved from Denver, Colorado, 15-plus years ago and this blog highlights our joys and challenges in adjusting to our new home and town. I also share things I love: photography, wildlife and domestic pets, writing, knitting, making jewelry, food, travel, my faith in God and music. I'm also writing a mystery novel so stay tuned!

This sounds intriguing! Like you, I’ve found that many posted recipes from other sites don’t live up to the expectations nor resemble the posted pictures. Maybe I’ll give this one a try! Great Y post – clever! 🙂
