A to Z Challenge: “B”log has a new look

I haven’t written much on my blog since last year so I thought the Blogging A to Z Challenge was the perfect way to 1) begin blogging again and 2) redesign my blog and get feedback.

I enjoy writing. Most of what I do is for a nonprofit that I work for, so while it can be creative, it’s mostly informative. My blog enables me to have a more personal voice. And, I’m comfortable with photography and enjoy it as well. Since those were the two elements that I wanted to highlight, I chose a WordPress theme (by Sculpture Qode) that was more visually appealing. I even have a slider at the top of my blog – woo hoo!

Although much of my content is from last year and older, much of it is “ever-green” so if you enjoy reading about the trials of moving from a larger city to a smaller town, here’s a blog for you! If you are a person of faith (and struggle and celebrate milestones along this journey called life), there are entries for you. If you enjoy travel and experiencing new things, you’ll find a few stories to your liking. And, if you like animals and adopt your pets from humane societies, then you might get a chuckle from this one.

It’s taken me a month to move my blog from Blogger to WordPress. I am not a techie person so I had two choices – pay someone at my web hosting company $150 to move my website or do it myself. Since I’m not independently wealthy, guess which option I chose? If you see any “bugs” that need to be worked out, please let me know!

I’ve included a screen shot of my old blog for your reference. I also freelance so after moving my site over, this is the only image still available from the good ‘ol days. It’s basically the same type of page but each blog page had at least one photo with it, which would appear below where you now see DW Creative Services.

Enjoy and let me know what you think! I’d really appreciate the feedback! If you’d like to continue getting updates, please sign-up with your email address.

I'm Diane, a marketing executive in the non-profit sector living in Terre Haute, Indiana. My husband and I moved from Denver, Colorado, 15-plus years ago and this blog highlights our joys and challenges in adjusting to our new home and town. I also share things I love: photography, wildlife and domestic pets, writing, knitting, making jewelry, food, travel, my faith in God and music. I'm also writing a mystery novel so stay tuned!
