Monthly question: Where do you draw the line in your writing? Answer: I’m answering this question in a bit of a different vein than most. IWSG: Being a reader is key to writing
Question for October IWSG: It’s been said that the benefits of becoming a writer who does not read is that all your ideas are new and original. Everything you do is an extension of yourself, instead of a mixture of you and another author. On the other hand, how can you expect other people to want your writing, if you don’t enjoy reading? #IWSG: End-of-year musings
I can’t believe that it’s the first week of December and the end of the year (although those two things usually go together – ha!) This year has flown by, and so have some of my resolutions that I made at the beginning of 2017. I have not, as I planned, made time to write in my daily schedule. I feel bad about this which creates guilt which creates frustration, which does NOT motivate me. It makes me feel sorry for myself. Does this ever happen to you? “Z”eal
Today marks the end of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. This has been one of the best writing experiences that I’ve had in the last 10 years. I honestly have had a certain zeal to finish it. Honestly, I did back-date a few posts but I was determined to finish on time (and under budget – ha!) The dictionary describes zeal as “excessive fervor to do something or accomplish some end.” Check! “A feeling of strong eagerness.” Check! “Passionate ardor in the pursuit of anything; ardent and active interest; engagedness, enthusiasm.” Yes on all accounts. Motivation
It’s Monday and I was looking for a little motivation so I visited one of my (soon-to-become) favorite blogs/tweeters. It’s called Urban Writers Retreat It’s a great idea. They offer retreats at a warehouse or other cool writing hangout that’s optimized for writing. Okay, so this one particular retreat is in London. I wouldn’t mind visiting London again sometime. Where did I put my pics of London? See how easy it is to get sidetracked when I should be writing? I like the premise of creating a space just for writing.
