A to Z Challenge: “An”-KNEE-versary
April 8 will be one my one-year an-KNEE-versary since I had my right knee replaced. I was 52 which is young, although my doctor said that he is doing replacements for people in their forties. It amazes me how God worked out all the little details and “obstacles” that I put up, in order to not have the operation. The usual hospital stay for a knee replacement is 2-3 days and then the patient goes to rehab for up to four weeks, for physical therapy. Bestie Sandy (left) and Becky, having a toast to something wonderful, at St. Mary’s Supper Club. A good friend of mine passed away from lymphoma in April 25, 2013, and I miss her. There are those people that you meet and you feel “right at home” with. Becky was that type of person. She had a wonderful sense of humor and many times we’d laugh until we were both in tears. She loved animals and rescuing them, she liked telling people’s stories (she was a journalist) and she had a big heart. She’s a big reason that I have one of the loves of my life, my dog Hershey. Grace comes to us in many forms. Several years ago, a small gray and white cat showed up at our door with three kittens. She was barely larger than her kittens and I was surprised she was a momma cat. She was obviously putting everything she had into raising her kittens. I put food and water out and this enabled her to wean her babies. She showed up like clockwork for breakfast and dinner. Although she didn’t let me pet her, she started communicating with me through “meows” and body language. She’d become playful after dinner, chasing grasshoppers and rolling over on her back.
