Instant Pot craze
In December, I broke down and purchased an Instant Pot with a gift card bonus from work. I’ve been hearing about how well, and how quickly it cooks everything from a whole chicken to hard boiling the perfect eggs. It makes yogurt (I had no idea that one could make her own yogurt). Several years ago I discovered Yummly™. It’s a website for tasty, easy-to-make recipes. I created a user name and password and then I was off – tagging recipes to add to my Recipe Box online. Warning – the photos will have your stomach growling with hunger in no time! Yummly aggregates recipes from multiple online sources. It has an intuitive search capability that allows me to look for the perfect recipe, based on ingredients I have on-hand or by holiday, cuisine, taste, diet, nutrition, allergy, cook time and even technique. With the Yummly app for iPhone/iPad (also for Android), I can even create a shopping list to take with me…

“A”sparagus and individuality
Photo © Diane Weidenbenner I had a revelation today, or, rather, my husband helped me with a revelation. You see, I don’t like asparagus. (That’s not the revelation – you need to read on…) Everyone likes asparagus, at least that’s what I’ve been lead to believe. It’s unmatched for its nutritional benefits and everyone I know just coos over it like it’s a newborn baby. I’ve only prepared it once and the spears refused to get tender so I now equated asparagus with stubbornness. And, green, stringy-ness. See my dilemma?
