“C”amaraderie and the Insecure Writer’s Support Group

If you have not already heard about this wonderful resource group, the Insecure Writer’s Support Group, you’ll want to listen up.

I found this group about two years ago and even though I’ve gotten kicked off of the roster several times for non-participation, I recommend it highly for writers and would-be writers. It’s good that they hold you accountable. You only need to publish once, on the first Wednesday of each month, in order to stay on the list. Not so good that I can’t write at least once a month.

First, it’s a great group of people who are encouraging and a morale boost. You’ll hear from published writers, writers-in-transit to being published and wishful, published writers.

Second, they publish a writer’s prompt in case you need a creative boost. They offer a blog hop so you can discover and support other wonderful writers. Currently I’m number 182 on the list.

Third, I value their information. On March 25, they featured 10 Literary Podcasts that all writers should listen to. I respect the recommendations of their blogs and find helpful hints and wisdom nuggets – isn’t that what we’re here for? To encourage each other to keep writing?!

Fourth, they have one of the most extensive lists of Conferences/Events/ Publications that I’ve ever run across.

And, I especially like their logo with the lighthouse graphic. If you feel lost at sea in your writing endeavors, you only have to visit their site to get your bearings.

What groups do you find especially encouraging and helpful, in your writing journey? I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm Diane, a marketing executive in the non-profit sector living in Terre Haute, Indiana. My husband and I moved from Denver, Colorado, 15-plus years ago and this blog highlights our joys and challenges in adjusting to our new home and town. I also share things I love: photography, wildlife and domestic pets, writing, knitting, making jewelry, food, travel, my faith in God and music. I'm also writing a mystery novel so stay tuned!

I’m involved with a small, online goal group of close-knit and trustworthy writers and artists. That group has been an encouragement even when I had to take a break from writing. We keep in touch no matter what.

IWSG is also a great group. Try pre-scheduling your monthly posts. It’ll keep you from being kicked off the list. LOL

I had a writing group when I lived in Denver but haven’t found that here in Indiana yet. So glad you have that close-knit group that you can rely on and trust. Enjoy your writing!

The IWSG has been great for me. I’ve met so many writer friends and learned so much. And yeah, it can be easy to miss a post or two when life gets hectic. I now have the first Wednesday of the month marked on my calendar so I don’t forget.

    Welcome back!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. Great idea! I mark everything else on my calendar – why not my writing, to keep me focused and on-task. Happy writing this month!

Welcome back Diane! I’ve also just returned to the ISWG. I’ve been taken off the list a couple of times in the past for missing a post, so I agree with the suggestion of pre-scheduling posts. I’ve come back to the group for the reasons you’ve stated. 🙂

I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one who has been kicked off the list. I enjoy discovering other people’s blogs, trying to inspire others and getting new ideas. Thanks for visiting my site. I really appreciate it.
