A new normal?

Trumpets resounding the arrival of spring!

So, a lot has changed since October, when I last posted to my blog. I think my writing has been hibernating, afraid to come out for fear of frostbite. Is that possible?

In a week, it will be April and of course that means taking part in the Blogging A to Z blogathon. I’m not sure I’ll make it – okay, that’s not the right way to go into this event. Yes, I’m sure I’m going to blog every day (except Sunday) in April, fully completing the A to Z blogathon!

So, Covid 19 happened. Today the first death in our county was reported. The only data that we have about this person is that they were mid-50’s. That narrows it down. Huh. I’m just a tad over my mid-50’s. A sobering thought. New York just announced that they have had more 911 calls related to Covid 19 than they had on 9/11. Sobering and unfathomable.

Our daffodils are out. The forsythia are beginning to bloom which means it will be time to uncover our roses and see which ones get the prize for surviving the winter. Yay us!

I usually leave the daffodils to our backyard but since we’re sheltering in place, I thought it best to bring in the blooming buds. My husband and I can appreciate them in a vase. The dog can try to eat them off of the kitchen counter. The possibilities are (not really) endless.

These hearty yellow flowers are the first trumpets of spring, of a time to come that is warmer, where social distancing of people, and flowers, is not necessary. Perhaps a time when there is no more Covid 19.

Editor’s note: You may notice that my blog has a new look. About two months it crashed and I couldn’t even access my posts, photos, etc. I didn’t realize how much I depended on this little piece of real estate until I didn’t have it. My “theme” became out of date once I renewed my contract with my hosting company and it went downhill from there. So, if you notice a bug or two, please be patient with me – but let me know so I can fix it. At least it isn’t the coronavirus. At least I don’t think it is …

I'm Diane, a marketing executive in the non-profit sector living in Terre Haute, Indiana. I also share things I love: photography, wildlife and domestic pets, writing, knitting, making jewelry, food, travel, my faith in God and music. I'm also writing a mystery novel so stay tuned!

Lovely photo! I am also happy to see the signs of spring (which are early in RI this year). Good for you for going ahead with A-Z. My blog fell by the wayside a long time ago, but I’ll be happy to read yours. You and your family stay safe!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. It warms my heart. You and your family stay safe. Perhaps you should think about revitalizing your blog? Just a thought!

So lovely to be able to read your writings again! Besides my own daffodils in full-bloom today for the first time this year, this is a day-brightener in a world of worry, fear, and virus news. I will so look forward to more of your postings, as I will also enjoy sunshine and my dog’s runs across the green grass! (I still have my sister Becky’s younger dog, a loving joy to my days and nights.)

Happy to have discovered your blog! I love your nature and garden pix, and I might sign up for the A-Z challenge. That’s new to me but might be a good discipline for the Covidozoic Age.

Thanks for visiting my blog! The A to Z challenge is fun but can also be stressful, having to post every day but Sunday. I usually discover some of my favorite new blogs through it, as I visit other writers. Good luck if you sign up!

Hi, Diana! I’m a Hoosier, too, though my family and I have lived in California many years. Come on over to my blog…psst, I posted about Ben & Jerry’s ice cream as my COVID-19 response
